Purpose and structure

This briefing to the incoming Minister (BIM) provides an introduction to the Education Review Office and our role within the wider education system. It focuses on ERO’s role in influencing the system’s response to the challenge of raising student achievement.

The BIM is structured in three parts:

  • Making a difference to student achievement – the challenges, our role and current initiatives in place
  • Matters for the incoming Minister – immediate engagement and opportunities
  • Building capability – our operating model, engagement with the sector, information management and cross sector alignment

The briefing has been framed within the context of the Ministry of Education’s system briefing - ‘Aspiration and Achievement: the Education System Briefing to the Incoming Ministers’.
